Product Description
These beautiful handcrafted hampers showcase the talent of rural Turkana basket weavers in dry northern Kenya. The doum palm, also known as the gingerbread tree, grows throughout the Turkanalands, and produces long leaf stalks that can be harvested regularly for basket weaving. Since trucking the baskets down to Nairobi can be a complicated process, baskets are sold as a nesting set to efficiently preserve space. These durable storage baskets are crafted to serve beautifully in any room of the home for years.
Sold as a set of three baskets with assorted arrow designs woven in dyed chestnut brown fiber. Because these are handcrafted baskets, each may vary slightly. Minor smudging on the exterior of baskets is to be expected due to the rigors of transit from Northern Kenya.
